Stereolab - Dots and Loops

Stereolab was formed from the ashes of the 80s leftist indie outfit McCarthy by guitarist and keyboardist Tim Gane and vocalist Lætitia Sadier. The pair had met after a McCarthy gig in Paris and Sadier had joined the group for its final album. The distinctive Stereolab sound was established almost immediately and owed a lot to the Krautrock pulse of Can and NEU!, the primal rock'n'roll drone of The Velvet Underground, and a dose of French Pop sensibility, particularly evident in Sadier's bilingual vocals.
